Biography
The son of John de Zwaan and Jane (Mast) de Zwaan, James was born in Jamestown, Michigan in 1903.[citation needed] In 1910, he lived with his family in Byron, Michigan, in Kent County.[1] James De Zwaan married Bertha Mekkes (1899-1997), the daughter of Theodore Mekkes and Kate Medemar, marrying in Grand Rapids, Michigan on August 30, 1923[citation needed] and having five children together. In 1930, residing in Wyoming, Michigan, James worked as a landscape gardener.[2]
James De Zwaan passed away in Grand Rapids at the age of 90, residing last in Caledonia, Michigan,[3][4] and is buried at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Cascade Township, Michigan.[5]
